Nooka Zot classic watch

| | Comments (0)

Nook_011_n Now this is one damn cool watch. So what if it's really difficult to tell the time - we have mobile phones to do that. The Nooka Zot Classic displays the hours as a progression of 12 dots. This design feature allows the watch to display the month on the same display with the date in the seconds window. It's housed in stainless, waterproof steel with an LCD backlight. Available from Elsewares (they do ship to the UK) for $250 (around £125) BUY IT

Nooka watches are the brainchild of Matthew Waldman, a New York-based artist and designer.

Mmm, I could eat up Apple's new coloured iPod Shuffles. Goddamn, they look like hi-tech Quality Street. Spec-wise, they're identical to the original silver 2nd-gen Shuffle - 1GB of storage, 12 hours battery life, belt-clip, impossibly small, easy to lose etc. BUY IT

Picture_2_106 It's not even out until 19 March, but the forthcoming DVD release - the usual two-disc collectors' edition - of new Bond romp 'Casino Royale' is already a runaway leader at the top of Amazon's 'Hot 100 DVD' charts. You have been able to download shaky cam-recorded versions of the movie via Bittorrent sites for ages now, but there's not much satisfaction in watching one of those (so I've heard - Brandish would never engage in illegal downloading, hell no).

Having watched Casino Royale at the cinema over Christmas (remember Christmas?), I'm looking forward to watching it again. It's undoubtedly one of the better Bond films (up there with Goldeneye and Goldfinger) and Daniel Craig is the only 007 to give Sean Connery a run for his casino chips. PRE-ORDER IT

This, and a range of other Shakespeare-inspired tees, is available from conceptshirts.co.uk. Price = £16.90 to you sunshine. BUY IT

Picture_1_275 The SGR-A1 robot sentry is currently being developed by the Korea University and Samsung Techwin Co. The latter has released a promo video showcasing the robot's capabilities (watch it after the jump). The video shows how the robot tracks its target, and also its ability to shoot at targets that do not respond to an initial verbal warning.

Beaver Hat

| | Comments (0)

Beaver_hatLet's face it. It's cold and miserable outside. In Britain, it's mostly cold and miserable. If global warming experts are to be believed, then the UK is just going to get colder and colder. One good thing about the chill is that you get to wear more stylish gear, and what better way to make an impression than sporting this fine Beaver Hat from Barney's in New York?

The Sheared Beaver Hat is going for $595.00 and has a quilted lining to make sure your head stays super warm. As it's sheared beaver, I presume it means there wasn't any culling going on to make it. It's made in Canada, and they know a thing or two about staying warm. Also available in black. BUY IT

Paul Frank Bohemian Duffel Bag

Bag_4

Most men don't feel like a fool carrying a bag these days. Once upon a time, you may have been beaten to death for being too feminine, but thankfully times have changed. For those gents who want to carry something a bit more stylish than a Head bag (or if you're reliving your school days, the end of a Head bag) you should check out this super-roomy, vintage-inspired duffel bag from Paul Frank. The Bohemian Duffel bag comes in smooth vinyl and patterned cotton with contrast piping at front and back.

The exterior features a large zip pocket at the front, and an ID slot at the side. Two carrying options with two handles connected by O-rings and a removable, adjustable shoulder strap. Loads of storage room and looks great and available for $90. BUY IT

Peep Show Mac ads

| | Comments (0)

Picture_1_274 So the lovely Peep Show boys, David Mitchell and Robert Webb, have taken the corporate shill and done a series of UK-specific ads for Mac. In fairness, if we were going to take the corporate shill, we'd want to take it from Apple too. From behind. Click on the image to watch the ads. They're pretty funny. Not as funny as Peep Show, but no less funny than their TV sketch show, 'That Mitchell & Webb Look'.

B000lxsm7y01_aa240_sclzzzzzzz_v49585419_ Any album that gets one star in The Guardian has to be worth a listen - I mean, the paper can't even get their name right, calling them The Klaxons (just Klaxons, guys - nice research). What, the backlash has begun even before their first long-player hits stores? At least give them their 15 minutes. Actually, behind all the 'nu-rave' PR bullshit, Klaxons obviously have the talent for more than 15 minutes of NME fame. 'Myths' (did Rick Wakeman dream up that title?) is all good fun, loud and raw and energetic and all over the shop, on the surface anyway. BUY IT

Check out Klaxons' website, where you can create your own cover artwork for the album.

In his PS Collection, we find this cracking double breasted check coat which is lined, and features a great floral detail on the inside pocket.
