Iain Banks, author of The Wasp Factory, The Crow Road and Complicity, to name just three of his novels, is one of my favourite British authors. His prose is imaginative and shot through with black humour. So I’m always excited when he has a new book out. The Steep Approach to Garbadale has been favourably reviewed, with many critics acclaiming it as his best book in years.
The novel traces the recent history of the Wopuld family, which built its fortune on a board game called Empire. I’ve only just received my hardback copy via Amazon, so haven’t had a chance to finish it yet. So far though, it’s shaping up to be yet another cracking read from the pen of Banks. BUY IT
