Fuzz Dandy: Online groovy threads

By mofgimmers on February 23rd, 2007

FuzzdandyA lot of people are flummoxed when trying to hunt down cool retro threads. It’s often hard to find sixties and seventies originals that are reasonably priced and/or in a good condition. It’s easy to find the stuff you like, but not necessarily in your size.

Well thankfully, Fuzz Dandy are on hand to help. Reproducing vintage cuts and styles, Fuzz Dandy offer a great range of well fitted flares, Mod cardigans, striped Tees straight off the back of the beatnicks of Haight & Ashbury and more.

The prices range from a very reasonable £30 for a pair of cords to £22 for a slim-fit cardigan. As they’re new, you can be certain that they’ll have your size and that they won’t be full of moth holes.

The Saville Row Company Check Shirt

By mofgimmers on February 23rd, 2007

Check_shirt

Want Saville Row tailoring on a budget? Well, of course, you won’t get a made-to-measure shirt for cheap, but for something that stinks of quality, you could do worse than a shirt from the Saville Row Company who have been making shirts since 1938… so it’s safe to assume that this lot know what they’re doing.

Priced from £30, you can get your hands on great button down check shirts which will be perfect now the weather is getting milder. This shirt is available in 6 styles, one to suit every taste, and all are available in both long and short sleeve options. They are made in their signature fabric – 100% pure cotton – so you’ll be cool and comfortable no matter how high the temperature rises.

Lost ‘Hurley’ action figure

By ShinyMedia on February 22nd, 2007

Fig011p
We love the concept of a Hurley ‘action’ figure. Look at him: he’s the ultimate anti-action hero.

You can also buy figures of square-jawed Jack, sexy Kate, druggy Charlie, and crazy Locke – but Hurley is definitely our favourite. Available from Gamestation for £12.99.  BUY IT

Btw, if you don’t watch Lost, this post will mean less than nothing to you. Sorry about that. You really should watch it though, it’s very good.

Hackett McGregor jacket

By mofgimmers on February 22nd, 2007

Hackett_jacket

Tucked away on Sloane Street in SW1, Hackett has been producing fine clothes for those who like a touch of the sea-farer in their gear. Apparently, our American cousins over the pond go mental for Hackett threads. For your money, you get classic English style at decent prices.

Of course, Hacketts are famed for their bespoke suits, but there’s a good range of casualwear including this great Get Carter styled jacket. Currently going for £225 in the sale, so get on it quick.

Martin Margiela Zip cotton bomber jacket

By mofgimmers on February 22nd, 2007

Margiela_jacket

Martin Margiela is a Belgian fashion designer who studied under fashion icon Jean Paul Gaultier, before showing his first collection under his own label in 1988.

Well, Margiela keeps on bringing out great lines and stylish gear to suit your needs, exemplified in this simple, but effective cotton bomber jacket. This bomber has a large fur collar (not for veggies then) which is removable and leads into a small semi circle panel that sits on the neckline.

It has a zip fastening that sits slightly to the right hand side of the jacket with a hemline that features some nice stitching details that sit on the hips. As it’s designer, it’ll cost you. Currently £345 in the sale at Brown’s.

A.P.C ‘Texas’ tee

By Isabelle on February 22nd, 2007

Untitled_48
Ah to be a boy. Even if you’re a bit of a fashion dandy, as long as you are male your clothing choices are a lot simpler than us womenfolk. Take this A.P.C. t-shirt for instance, it lists all of Texas’ greatest natives, carefully omitting one particular moronic Texan. The people deemed worthy of being on the t-shirt include Janis Joplin, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Buddy Holly. It will cost you 70 Euros to stick it to the man, and also comes in grey marl with a black print.

Hug salt & pepper shaker

By ShinyMedia on February 21st, 2007

Mint_001_lg2
Q: How cute is this ‘Hug’ salt & pepper set?

A: Very very cute indeed. In fact, it’s probably the cutest salt & pepper set we’ve ever seen, and that’s saying something, because we’ve seen a lot of cute salt & pepper sets in our time (not really).

So what else can we tell you about it? Well, each pot is made of porcelain and is roughly three inches tall. That’s all you need to know. Just look at them!

Available from the magical online shop that is Elsewares, for just $24 (around £13). BUY IT

K-Swiss Nautical Zedler slip

By ShinyMedia on February 21st, 2007

K-Swiss has just launched its new Nautical range, and very smart it is too. Our favourite model is this Zedler slip-on. The shoe’s simple design is based on classic canvas deck footwear, but these shoes are just as suited for the streets as the high seas. The coloured stripes spell out ‘K-Swiss’ using the
nautical flag alphabet. Clever, that. BUY THEM

Most wanted: Grinderman’s new album (aka Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds)

By ShinyMedia on February 21st, 2007

B000lz6dnm01_aa240_sclzzzzzzz_v44530295_
Nick Cave and three of his Bad Seeds have formed a new rock group, Grinderman. They play vicious, poetic, paint-stripping rock/blues that makes Tom Waits sound like Jason Donovan. They have songs called ‘No Pussy Blues’ and ‘Love Bomb’ and (our favourite) ‘Depth Charge Ethel’. They are, in short, bloody great. Cave has said he probably won’t tour this album, because he’s too busy writing the new Bad Seeds LP, so you’ll have to make do with the recorded version, out on 5 March. ORDER IT

Office Lehndorff scarf

By Isabelle on February 20th, 2007

This scarf is officially the tits. With every piece of semi-alright menswear being confined to stripes of some kind this is a scarf with a difference. Show people your proud geekery and keen sartorial taste with the robot Office Lehndorff scarf. There are lots more pixel knits on the website, so if the blue/coral combo is a bit eye-popping there are many more to choose from.

Obey Summer of Love T-Shirt

By mofgimmers on February 20th, 2007

Obey

A lot of retro designs don’t quite cut it do they? They often go for a pastiche as opposed to a design that genuinely reflects the clothing of the time. This is when you end up with silly loons and tie-dye things with tacky peace signs on. Worse still, you could end up with a big ganja leaf.

Well, for those of you wanted to show off a tasteful nod toward the late sixties, you can celebrate the summer of love with this vintage-washed soft heathered cotton T Shirt with a swirling psychedelic print of lovers loving, Kilmt style.

It’s going for $32.00 from Urban Outfitters, which means you’ll be paying around £17.00 if you’re a UK reader.
