It doesn’t really matter if you don’t like the classic British Mini or not… if you saw someone with one of these, you’d want one. There is no price on this inventive creation as yet, but whatever the price, you’ll be gagging for a go on one. Why? Well, the Mini Desk is made from original British Minis and the desk is hand-built to your specifications, with your choice of desk top, car color, rims, tires, and license plates.

Not only that, it features a stereo in the dash with speakers in the parcel shelf, and fully working headlamps, hazards and spotlights. It’s designed by Glynn Jenkins and will be a real coup for any Mini enthusiast. FIND OUT MORE

Alessi Kaj Wristwatch

By mofgimmers on February 6th, 2007

Alessi_watch

Lots of watches demand to be looked at by being shiny and fussy. However, for those of you who aren’t magpie eyed, you’ll be interested in this cracking Alessi watch. The Kaj collection designed by Karim Rashid is "symbolic of technology, the cosmos and the passage and cyclical nature of time" apparently.

However, the more sensible of you will just think that it looks very nice and the design is clean and simple, and therefore will never go out of fashion. It’s made from polyurethane (case and strap), acrylic crystal and is 3ATM water resistant.

How much for this stylish watch? To you, $85.00 (roughly £40 for UK readers).

Fender Trainers

By mofgimmers on February 5th, 2007

FenbeatveltanFender have got a huge heritage in making guitars. Jimi Hendrix liked setting fire to his. Kurt Cobain liked to smash his up on stage. That’s not too say they’re rubbish. They are a design classic and an icon in pop culture.

Well, Fender have branched out into clothing, and instead of sticking to those tired old logo T-Shirts usually seen on sweaty roadies and cider stinking rockers in bars, they are running a line in smart trainers. Pick of the bunch are these leather velcro trainers which are going for £44.95. They feature a nice gold Fender detail, and are as comfortable as anything you’ll wear. BUY THEM

Vans Leather Slip-On Shoes

By mofgimmers on February 5th, 2007

Vans_slip_onsSlip-ons? Slip-on shoes? Has the world gone completely mental-ways? Well, no longer is the slip-on shoe the sole property of duffer old geography teachers and grandpa with the advent of skaterwear. For years, Vans have been making slip-on trainers with ska influenced check and the skaters have been lapping them up.

Vans have now made a smarter pair in leather and will set you back a reasonable $55.00 (about £30). These shoes are versatile enough to be worn casual, or, it you don’t like getting dressed up, you could probably get away with them at a formal occasion without drawing too much heat from yer folks. These shoes come in soft leather with tonal goring on the sides, contrast stitching and logo tag. The base is a nice crepe sole which means they’ll be comfy and casual. BUY THEM

‘Jesus is the light’ ashtray

By ShinyMedia on February 2nd, 2007

Smokers: You can’t beat a witty ashtray to divert your attention from the fact that you’re breathing in poisonous and addictive fumes. I love that Jesus guy, even though he didn’t smoke – or did he. I’m not sure if the Bible mentions Marlboro?

Available from Urban Outfitters, for just £6. BUY IT

More groovy stuff for your home. (I’ve decided that it’s cool to say groovy again – so sue me.)

Fink Herringbone Field Blazer

By mofgimmers on February 1st, 2007

Blazer

It’s no longer a no-no to wear a smart jacket with a pair of jeans. Once, only ponytailed balding directors would be seen in that garb, but with a little taste, you can look great with a smart blazer and your fave denim. One fine example is the Fink Herringbone Field Blazer which is cut slim and long. It has a 3-button placket with button flap chest and side pockets.

In the detail, it has one-button cuffs, 2 inside pockets, a double-vented back as well as being fully lined. Good news is that it’s machine washable so you don’t have to keep running down to the dry cleaners with it. It’s a cotton/polyester mix and going for a very reasonable $88.00 (about £45)

Vintage Milk Bottle Light Shades

By mofgimmers on February 1st, 2007

Milkbottle

A lot of the stuff featured on Brandish is super suave and cool in design (we think so anyway), so to give you the flip side, here’s something quirky, retro and fun… and eco-friendly. Eco Home are selling vintage milk bottle light shades which will look great around the house.

All the bottles in the range (there’re many than the one pictured here) are pre-1987, and feature advertisements of the day such as the featured Crusha, as well as chocolate ads and a great ‘Sunday People -  A paper with bottle’!

You could be expected to pay a bit extra as they’re collector’s pieces on their own, but these have a practical purpose and have been amended to be used as quirky light shades.

As these are all genuine vintage bottles, numbers are limited and are available online for a paltry £28 each. BUY IT
