Is it lack of money or just sheer boredom? In keeping with the glut of rock bands that are suddenly reforming this year, the Sex Pistols have announced that they are to reform for a gig this coming November, with tickets on sale this coming Friday. The four surviving members – John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock – told NME that they’d perform a on off show at the Brixton Academy on November 8th in celebration of the 30th year since the release of Never Mind The Bollocks. Hardly punk is it?

But the true purpose of this article isn’t to pay homage to the members that are still amongst the living (just, mind), but to the member who was the true embodiment of the punk ethos – Sid Vicious. With that trade-mark sneer, dubious muscial talent and boyish-but-scuzzy looks, Sid was the Pete Doherty of the punk era. Only infinitely cooler.

If Sid had been born today, he certainly would have played muse to many designers, such was the way he carried off his own unique style. Most of what he wore wouldn’t look out of place in a contemporary collection, although I don’t think the "Neo-Nazi" look would go down quite so well in certain circles…
