Paris Catwalk Report: Givenchy

Givenchy

For me, it’s a bit of a shame that so many designers are forgoing the catwalk for cheaper means of displaying their wares, as I think you need to see clothing in movement to really get a sense of it.

That being said, Givency’s AW08 collection seems more than able to
stand up to being exhibited on a bunch of mannequins like some student
degree show. Let’s get right down to it though: the jackets and knits
are all well and good but it’s the trousers that are going to sell you
on this one. Brit designer Oswald Boateng has taken elements from all
the latest trouser trends and concocted them into a great new shape
which still somehow manages to be wearable and desirable.
You’ve got the slim legs as seen everywhere, Dior Homme’s jodhpur, and
the short cropped ankle (big for Spring). He’s cinched these in an
extremely low waist with a big belt and the whole look is really modern
and great. I want some.
