Lanvin’s collection wasn’t as strong as I would have liked but there were still a lot of lovely pieces which were well made and showed off the luxury fabrics to their best advantage.
The dream team of Lucas Ossendrijver and Alber Elbaz retained the air of the dandy gentleman but the overall look was much more casual than previous seasons.
The tailoring was much more relaxed (witness the short cropped one button jacket) and had some nice sporty touches like ribbed cuffs on the hems of trousers to achieve this season’s cropped look. There were several subtle innovations such as a gorgeous navy smoking jacket as outerwear and long floaty scarves worn as neckties.
Although not a trend-setting effort, as ever, the whole collection was executed with so much panache it makes you suspect some sort of slight of hand.
