When I opened Sunday Times Style’s latest male issue, I came upon a great editorial called ‘Man Alive.’ It focuses on shoes and suits but the contents are elevated by Lucy Ewing’s styling and Paul Bliss’ photography.
Among an issue containing Kate Moss semi-naked on a beach and Clive Owen in semi-shadow, it is testament to its brilliance that the editorial made the front cover of the magazine. Particular highlights included the ginger model leaping excitedly in the air. Clothing ranges from Giorgio Armani to Miu Miu and the models have been picked to represent different types of people.
Blonde, redhead, older, younger -almost everyone is catered for. The words ‘jumping’ and ‘model’ usually warn of an upcoming Meisel/Vogue fear-a-thon but in here it only boasts of creative nonchalance and the distractedness of sartorial skill. For those who didn’t manage to get it, I recommend you borrow it from a friend or even go as far as to request a back-copy from the magazine itself.
Ah- in hindsight I think short shorts may have even featured.
