In the latest issue of GQ Style Charlie Porter is waxing lyrical about the ’21st Century Flat Top’ and I have to say I agree. It fits in with a new style preppiness and clean minimalism which is the antithesis of Hedi Slimane’s slimfit rockstar look.
Of course Luke Perry was the poster boy for the ’80s flat-top, (pictured here with co-star and beta flat-top Jason Priestley) but the new version of this style is a lot less bombastic. Paul Smith and Louis Vuitton sent models down the catwalk in flat-top styles, and we recently featured the stylish (and now possibly defunct?) Bricolage recently. Adding to the slew of flat-tops Fashion156’s recent shoot featured similarly tall-haired models. Get the straighteners out and experiment away!
