The problem with spin-off men’s style magazines is that they’re often not given the same TLC that the main version is. Men’s Vogue hasn’t got anywhere near the level of the main Vogue magazine, but with features like ‘50 films that influenced men’s style‘, it’s getting there.
Starting from 1934 to 2007, the article includes everything from Easy Rider to Gigolo to The Royal Tenebaums and has little blurbs of information on just how every film has influenced men’s style. For instance, The Royal Tenebaums is credited with kickstarting hipster’s love affair of all things bright and sporty. An example of the hold movie stars had on their audience in the 1930′s is exhibited in the blurb on It Happened One Night. Clark Gable chose not to wear an undershirt in the film millions of people followed suit, nearly bankrupting the entire undershirt industry.
