It’s even busier than usual at Fred Perry’s ‘collaborations’ department this week. Hot on the heels of Paul Weller’s limited edition henley comes news of the Raf Simons link-up that was announced at the start of the year.
The autumn/winter line, inspired by ’60s skiwear, is the first part in a two seasons collaboration and marks the end of seven seasons of FP/Comme Des Garcons. It’s been a messy divorce, with Fred Perry getting the claws out and claiming they went in search of a new partner to “broaden the product range” as CDG weren’t prepared to go any further than “a few star [print] polo shirts and jackets.”
Raf’s 13 piece collection certainly fits the brief, with wool flannel trousers, a mohair turtleneck and one of my favourites, this knit pattern polo.
