Raf Simons x Fred Perry surfaces, marks the end of CDG collaboration

rafp.jpgIt’s even busier than usual at Fred Perry’s ‘collaborations’ department this week. Hot on the heels of Paul Weller’s limited edition henley comes news of the Raf Simons link-up that was announced at the start of the year.

The autumn/winter line, inspired by ’60s skiwear, is the first part in a two seasons collaboration and marks the end of seven seasons of FP/Comme Des Garcons. It’s been a messy divorce, with Fred Perry getting the claws out and claiming they went in search of a new partner to “broaden the product range” as CDG weren’t prepared to go any further than “a few star [print] polo shirts and jackets.”

Raf’s 13 piece collection certainly fits the brief, with wool flannel trousers, a mohair turtleneck and one of my favourites, this knit pattern polo.
