Startas make sure plimsolls won’t go away

startascnv.jpgI’ve already gone on record as saying we should all be hanging up the battered canvas plimsolls this summer, but the re-emergence of a former superbrand might mean the sand shoe gets a stay of execution on the high street.

Little-known Croatian label Startas (only 75 friends on MySpace 🙁 ) have been producing sneakers non-stop since the 1930s, at their peak moving 22m pairs a year. The new, revamped range reminds me of that other European plimsoll ‘giant’ Victoria – relatively well made shoes at relatively reasonable prices, in enough colours to complement any outfit in your wardrobe.

Thanks to for the heads up. (Check out their link to another plimmy brand, Kawasaki – mid-top plimsoles hawt for 2009?)
