We are British, and let’s face it we can be fickle. We might have a thing for an underdog one year, but the minute they start realising their potential and being successful we enjoy nothing more than taking them down a peg or two.
Here then are ten things we changed our mind about in 2012. These are things that we accepted as wisdom for at least some of the year, but revised our opinions on. Some in a negative way, but a surprising number in a positive way.
What have I missed?
4 The untouchability of Arsene Wenger
2011 was Arsene Wenger's nightmare year. Firstly two of his main stars left for, coughs, bigger clubs. Then the team had a disastrous start to the season including a mortifying 8-2 drubbing by United. Then Wenger went mad buying players some of whom would barely get a game for the Gunners. But if 2011 was bad the 'Arsene Knows' crew at The Emirates were faithful believing that the French man would still be able to keep his side at the forefront of European football. If anything 2012 has been worse and the belief the fans have in their manager and team has been tested to the limit. Many fans think that Wenger needs to be shunted upstairs sooner rather then later.
