Chelsea have put in a shock bid for Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike according to The Metro. The Nigerian has been a part of the World Cup squad and it is said that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been impressed with the striker.
A reported fee of £16m has been quoted as the transfer fee.The 27-year-old has proved a handful for defences at the tournament this summer and Mourinho is said to be an admirer of the Nigerian.
With Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku occupying the striking positions (to say nothing of Diego Costa), it looks like Mourinho will do a “one in – one out” swoop with Emenike coming in and either Samuel Eto’o or Demba Ba moving away from Stamford Bridge.
It will be interesting to see if the speculation materialises into anything concrete. It seems Mourinho is ready to do his business early this window.
