The player of the World Cup so far is once again being heavily linked with a big money move to Spanish giants Real Madrid. James Rodriguez has scored 5 goals this tournament whilst assisting in 2 in only 4 matches as Colombia get set to face hosts Brazil on Friday evening.

The Daily Mail report AS Monaco are braced for a £40m move for the playmaker who has stepped up to the mark for his country following the loss of Falcao to injury. Marca, the Spanish newspaper who are often called the mouthpiece of Real Madrid, are confident that Rodriguez is set to be a Los Blancos player.

It is thought that Real will look to sell on Angel Di Maria to fund the move and make space for Rodriguez. Di Maria was out of sorts when Carlo Ancelotti took over as manager but proved many wrong with an impressive season. Di Maria could be set for a Premier League transfer as England’s biggest clubs begin to perk their ears up.

James Rodriguez has already admitted he favours a move to Madrid after saying, “I prefer Real Madrid” when asked his dream destination. He also told Cadena Cope, “It would be a dream to play in Spain, one of the best leagues in the world.”

Premier League teams will be disappointed to miss out on a talent like Rodriguez but will be looking forward to picking up anyone who Madrid will now be willing to let go.
