Liverpool have today confirmed the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can for a fee believed to be around £10m.
Can, aged 20, was born in Frankfurt and has represented Germany Under-21s 6 times since 2013. He has spent his career playing in Germany where he signed for Bayern Munich from Eintracht Frankfurt. After making 4 appearances for the Bayern Munich first team he was transferred to Bayer Leverkusen in 2013 and played 29 times in the league last season.
Can has built up a good reputation and Liverpool are thought to have beat a number of clubs to his signature; as Brendan Rodgers looks to further strengthen his squad ahead of a season that sees the club return to the Champions League.
Liverpool have already been busy in this summer’s transfer window adding Southampton pair Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana to their ranks. Lambert, a goalscorer who has played his way up the English Football League cost £4 whilst Adam Lallana cost £25m, a virtue of his impressive displays of last year. The club are also linked with Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez and another Southampton man, Dejan Lovren.
