Harry Redknapp is reportedly looking to secure both Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker to bolster his back line ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Caulker, 22, has many admirers in the Premier League including Liverpool, Everton, Crystal Palace and his former club Tottenham Hotspur. Caulker was a rock at the back for Cardiff City last season despite the clubs relegation from the top flight and Walesonline.co.uk believe Harry Redknapp may be keen to activate Caulker’s relegation release clause in his contact.
Redknappy is seeking to pair young Steven Caulker with former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand. Ferdinand spent spent 12 years at Old Trafford winning 6 Premier League titles with the Red Devils, his experience at the age of 36 could be just what QPR require. Ferdinand would be available on a free transfer as his contract with Manchester United expired this summer.
Cardiff City are beginning to make plans for life after Caulker as they court released Fulham defender, Brede Hangeland to add to their squad along with current players Mark Hudson, Ben Turner and Juan Cala all fighting for a starting spot. Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s men will be desperate to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking as the Championship returns early in August.
