Ronald Koeman has some work to do replenish his squad after summer sales that have given him £70m to spend. Colombian left-back Pablo Armero could be the man to replace Luke Shaw who joined Manchester United in a deal worth more than £30m.
Armero spent some time on loan at West Ham United in the later half of last season but only made 5 Premier League appearances before heading to the World Cup with Colombia. Armero played all 5 of his country’s games and scored in their opener against Greece meaning he has an international record of 52 caps and 2 goals.
Armero joined current club Napoli for €4m in 2013 after spending some time on loan at the club but after 14 Serie A appearances last season it seems manager Rafael Benitez will be willing to let him leave the club. The Daily Mirror believe it will cost Southampton around £5m to prize Armero away from the Italians.
Southampton will also be on the look out for a striker, midfielder, centre-back and goalkeeper meaning they could be very busy in this summer transfer window.
