BBC Sport have reported that Liverpool are ready to splash the cash, £35m to be precise, on the attacking duo.
Belgian, Divock Origi is said to have agreed terms with the Merseyside club and the deal is nearing completion. Origi who has impressed at the World Cup with Belgium has been a name that has made its way on to may managers transfer wish list, however, it seems Rodgers and Liverpool have won the race for the 19-year-old’s signature. The Reds have had to pay out £10m to bring in the Lille forward and prize him to the Premier League.
Benfica forward, Lazar Markovic is the other target that Rodgers has made it clear he wants to bring in to Anfield. At just 20-years-old, its apparent that Liverpool are looking at the youth but are ready to utilise their qualities now. Prices at £25m, it would be a huge outlay for Liverpool if these deals were to come off in the next few days. The Serbian bagged 5 goals in 27 games last season for the Portuguese side and has clearly made an impression on Rodgers who is ready to secure another front man to accompany Sturridge and Lambert.
The imminent sale of big star striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona for a fee said to be around £75m will certainly help cover the costs as Rodgers looks to rebuild in numbers to help strengthen and deepen the squad for the coming season.
