Spurs set to hijack Liverpool’s Origi move

Gareth Thomas Football 1 Comment

Liverpool looked set to complete the move for Lille’s Divock Origi but ESPN are reporting Tottenham will try a late bid to steal the player.

Origi became Belgium’s youngest ever World Cup goal scorer this summer when he scored an 88th minute winner v Russia in their Group H clash. After a strong tournament showing, interest surrounding his future grew with Liverpool in pole position.

It was thought that the 19 year old would finalise a deal to Anfield this week but Tottenham are seeking to bring him to White Hart Lane if they can persuade him to change his mind.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been busy this transfer window, already signing Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from Southampton, Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen and agreeing a deal with Benfica winger Lazer Markovic

I was wondering when Spurs would perform their usual antics and hijack a Liverpool transfer deal it wouldn’t be Summer or January without such a stunt !! I just can’t believe Daniel Levy hasn’t learnt his lesson, with the exception of Christian Ericksen none of these signings has really achieved his potential.I only hope we now don’t do a Spurs and panic buy players ith potential rather than proven ability. With Suarez ( cut price ) departure imminent we can’t afford to gamble on players. We need a striker who has already demonstrated he can hammer them in against premiership sides , give me a Romelu Lukaku, Christian Bemteke, even a fit Michu over a young player who may have shone in a couple of games but did fade badly v a strong , physical USA side. Personally wont be losing sleep over this player but more concerned at the increasingly regular & embarrassing tabloid headlines . Out transfer dealings and the regularity with which Teams like Spurs or players like Sanchez stick 2 fingers up to us is leaving a bad taste. All the talk is about the Van Gaal / Man Utd or Wenger / Arsenal effect !! We were a whisker from winning the Premiership , our Stadium is about to be developed , we are in the Champions league but all this seems lost . Are Fenway failing to market the club ? Is BR targeting the wrong players. Watching last nights World Cup Semi Final , should we be looking for more players from the Bundesliga, they would be less likely to go crying off to Spain because their Father in Law says its time !!
