Luis Suarez’s best 5 goals for Liverpool

Gareth Thomas Football 1 Comment

Luis Suarez today joined Spanish giants Barcelona from Liverpool but over his time in the Premier League the 27 year old scored some unbelievable goals! With 69 in 110 league games, here is (in my opinion of course) his top 5 strikes!

Liverpool 4-1 West Brom 26/10/2013

Liverpool thumped West Brom at Anfield and Luis Suarez scored a magnificent hat-trick to move Liverpool 2 points behind then table toppers Arsenal. His first was pretty special as he slipped it through the defender legs and finished well but this header from 18 yards is brilliant!

Liverpool 1-1 Newcastle 4/11/2012

Suarez rescued a point for Liverpool against 10-man Newcastle in November 2012 with one of my favourite goals in that 2012/13 season. Suarez took the long ball from Jose Enrique on his chest before with a shift of his body and one touch taking it past keeper Tim Krul and tapping into an empty net. This quite simply shows Luis’ instinctive genius! (Some lovely foreign commentary too!)

Liverpool 5-1 Norwich 4/12/2013 x2

Luis Suarez made it a habit to score hat-tricks against Norwich City but in December 2013 he notched a haul (4 goals) in some style and provides 2 of my top goals. The Uruguayan opened the scoring with a phenomenal 40 yard lob of Norwich keeper John Ruddy after 15 minutes.

He scored a second after 29 minutes and then on 35 minutes completed his hat-trick with a beauty. He flicked the ball over Leroy Fer, the gap opened and he smashed it into the corner of the net from the edge of the box (starts 2:11 into the video). Suarez scored 12 in 6 games agains the Canaries!

Stoke 1-2 Liverpool 26/10/2011

Ok so this one isn’t in the Premier League but Suarez scored 4 during 6 League Cup ties and this is one of them. With Liverpool 1-0 down away to Stoke City, Suarez levelled the game in some style. He nutmegged defender Ryan Shotton and curled a stunning strike in from the left hand, edge of the box. He then went on to nick a winner on 85 minutes.

One thing is for certain, whilst many won’t miss a few of his more questionable character traits, we will all lose out on seeing  his virtuoso performances on a regular basis!
