Liverpool have already brought in two Southampton players; Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana. With Dejan Lovren still a wanted man at Anfield, he looks set to complete his move should Liverpool be willing to match the Saints valuation of their defender. Now, Brendan Rodgers Liverpool side are in the hunt for Jay Rodriguez according to The Daily Mail.
The England international impressed for Southampton in their over-achieving season and Rodgers wants to implement that belief into his Liverpool side. Rodriguez’s form earned himself an England cap and was tipped for a call-up to the World Cup; however, hampered by a knee injury, Rodriguez missed out on Brazil 2014.
Rodriguez will still be out until October, but that doesn’t seem to faze Rodgers who is said to be an admirer of Rodrguez’s talent and wants him at Liverpool. However, it could be a race for the signature as Liverpool have also been heavily linked with Swansea striker, Wilfried Bony who looks to move to Merseyside.
There is however, another vacancy in the striking positions as Iago Aspas looks set to join Sevilla on loan for the rest of the season after failing to break into the first team. With Suarez leaving Liverpool for Barcelona, Rodgers will need to improve his striking options after losing their 30 goals a season man.
Could there be room for Bony and Rodriguez to join Liverpool?
