It’s a deal that’s been on the cards for the past week but this afternoon reports have emerged that Liverpool have completed the deal for Lazer Markovic. Sky Sports and TalkSport both believe the deal has been finalised whilst a statement from Benfica claim they have sold their 50% share in the player to Liverpool for €12.5m. The other 50% share is owned by the winger’s agent.
Markovic, aged 20, is an exciting Serbian who played 26 league games for Benfica last season. He has represented his nation on 12 occasions since making his debut in February 2012.
Liverpool are yet to officially confirm the €25m deal but images have been seen on twitter of the player arriving at the Red’s training ground, Melwood, and of him around the city.
This adds to Liverpool’s already busy transfer window as they have signed Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana from Southampton and Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen. Rodgers is hoping to complete the transfer of young Belgian Divock Origi too as well as bidding for Southampton’s Dejan Lovren.
