Daryl Janmaat is now a Newcastle United player. The Netherlands right-back flew in to Newcastle today to complete his medical ahead of a £5m move from Feyenoord.
The Dutchman played a crucial role in Netherland’s 3rd place finish in this summers World Cup in Brazil and Newcastle fans will be happy with their man. However, one thing that this deal does insinuate is that Newcastle’s current right back Mathieu Debuchy looks set to join Arsenal.
Having doubled their profit for Debuchy who looks set to complete a £12m to Arsenal this week, it means they can cash in on the Frenchman and sign Janmaat for a cut price whilst still pocketing some money for the transfer window. A shrewd piece of business from Newcastle who also apparently pipped Manchester United and Louis Van Gaal to signing the Dutch defender.
A move that could cause a knock-on-effect in the Premier League. The transfer window is certainly hotting up and some of the best talent out there is moving closer to England.
