Tottenham have targeted Aston Villa’s Rob Vlaar as the ideal man to strengthen their defence. The Dutch defender has been heavily linked with a host of clubs after his impressive World Cup campaign with the Netherlands.
Aston Villa are apparently unwilling to let their captain leave, however, Spurs may use Michael Dawson or Lewis Holtby as bait to help lure in the Dutchman according to the Daily Mail.
Vlaar’s impressive World Cup has sparked Pochettino to act fast and he has singled out Vlaar as the perfect man to help build their defence. Big, strong and experienced in the Premier League, Spurs will want to put in a bid for the Villa man, however, Paul Lambert has reiterated the point, “Vlaar is not for sale”.
Tottenham now will battle it out with Villa to come to a conclusion with the deal for Vlaar; whether that be a cash plus player deal.
