Arsenal are set to sign Southampton defender Calum Chambers as another player is set to exit St Mary’s.
Wenger is eager to help bolster his side after a host of injuries and suspensions in previous seasons have caused their demise in the Premier League and cup competitions.
It appears Arsenal are ready to splash the cash as Chambers is ready to join the Gunners for a fee said to be around £16m according to BBC Sport.
The 19-year-old impressed last season as he made 25 appearances for the impressive Southampton side. Chambers would be Arsenal’s third summer signing along with Mathieu Debuchy and Alexis Sanchez; with Morgan Schneiderlin also tipped to join Arsenal in the coming days.
Southampton are preparing for a tough ride without the likes of Chambers, Lallana, Lambert and Shaw who have all sought moves away from St Mary’s.
Arsenal are clearly happy with bringing in the young English talent from the Saints as Chambers joins, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to the Emirates.
Exciting times ahead for Arsenal.
