According to the Express, Manchester United are eyeing up two swap deals to bring in defenders to Old Trafford. Manager, Louis Van Gaal is looking to unleash his new 3-5-2 system with the Red Devils and he requires a centre half and another right sided player.
Van Gaal has already voiced his opinions of the team he was inherited from his predecessor, David Moyes and slammed the teams “broken” state of affairs.
The Dutch coach will use Shinji Kagawa as bait to bring in Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund after he claimed that United have “too many number 10’s”. It appears that Kagawa is out of favour at Old Trafford and will be sent back to Germany to help bring Hummels to the fray.
Meanwhile, Van Gaal is ready to to do a swap deal with Premier League rivals Arsenal, using Nani and cash to bring in Thomas Vermaelen who has been constantly linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Nani is also out of favour with the Red Devils and Van Gaal wants to get rid of the driftwood to make way for two defenders who can help him achieve his philosophy with his new formation.
The former Barcelona coach has already slammed Luke Shaw for not being fit enough and has ordered the young left-back to train on his own until he is match fit. Clearly Van Gaal is taking nothing for granted, despite United shelling out £27m on the young full-back.
It appears it’s the Van Gaal way or no-way at United now.
