Arsenal are having to fend off heavy interest from competitors to sign Frenchman and Lyon midfielder, Clement Grenier.

The midfielder looks set to leave the French outfit this season and is weighing up his options for his next career move. With Arsenal, Newcastle, Everton, Bayer Leverkusen and A.C. Milan all reportedly interested in the 23-year-old.

Reports from the Metro have revealed that Arsenal boss is said to still be interested in the young midfielder whom he openly said he is keeping an eye on last year, “‘We are following him,’ he said. ‘I like the intelligence of his play. He has interesting qualities, if anyone, he reminds me of Nasri.”

Hubert Fournier, Lyon’s manager, has been suggested to have admitted that he has ‘accepted the idea of Grenier’s departure from the club.’

Whilst Grenier is said to prefer a move to Italy putting A.C. Milan in the driving seat, the lure of playing in the Premier League with a new influx of world class talent may just persuade Grenier to change his mind.

The Grenier deal may be a cover up story to hide the ever-growing speculation surround Sami Khedria and his move from Real Madrid with Arsenal still touted to capture the German.

Will Grenier or Khedira be arriving at the Emirates next season?
