AC Milan will have scouts in London this weekend to watch Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell in the Emirates Cup according to the Daily Express.
Joel Campbell signed for Arsenal in August 2011 but when he failed to gain a work permit was sent out on loan to Lorient of France and Real Betis of Spain where he made 53 league appearances between them. Last season he spent his time in Greece with Olympiacos where he scored against Manchester United in the Champions League.
Still only 22 Campbell was one of Costa Rica’s star men at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil and scored as his nation topped a group containing England, Uruguay and Italy. He has 10 goals in 36 caps for the South Americans and has attracted interest from a number of clubs with the Italian giants set to step up their interest.
Should Milan sign Campbell it could be used as a bargaining chip in a potential deal for Mario Balotelli who Arsenal have been linked to throughout the transfer window. Torino’s Alessio Cerci will be the Rossoneri’s alternative if they cannot agree a deal for Campbell.
