The Cameroon striker and captain has been released by the Blues after completing one season at Stamford Bridge. Formerly linked with a move to Everton, Eto’o now looks set to be joining West Ham.
The free agent according to Vital Football is move closer to a move to West Ham. The only stumbling block for both parties may be the 33-year-old’s wages. Used to being on hundreds of thousands a week, Eto’o may find that he will have to take a pay-cut if he wished to continue to ply his trade in the Premier League with West Ham.
The striker would be a welcomed addition to the Hammers strike force which has been heavily criticised of late. Eto’o’s experience and natural goal-scoring ability could help stir some what of a revival for West Ham who struggled last season.
Eto’o, who has made many spats with former manager Jose Mourinho, may want to prove the Portuguese man wrong by showing he can still perform at the highest level in spite of his age.
