Earlier today we reported how Manchester United had agreed a fee with Juventus for Arturo Vidal. Louis Van Gaal though is not stopping there as The Daily Mirror suggest Mats Hummels could soon be following him to Old Trafford.
Hummels, the German international who plays for Borussia Dortmund, has been linked to Man United all summer and it is thought that a £20m deal could be close. However, a stumbling block could be Dortmund finding a replacement and that could come in the form of 21 year old Liverpool defender Tiago Illori.
Mats Hummels started his career at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich but would only make 1 league appearance for the full side before joining Dortmund. Since then he has played in 171 league games and scored 15 goals. The world class centre back also was a key man for Germany during this summer’s World Cup win and he has 36 caps and 4 goals for his nation.
Vidal and Hummels would certainly add immense quality to Van Gaal’s Red Devils who will be set to fight back into the Championship League this season following the disappointments of the 2013/14 campaign.
