Arsenal have already made arguably one the signings of the summer with Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez joining the club, the Daily Express report that they aren’t done yet though. After chasing and seemingly failing to capture Colombian Juan Quintero it is now believed they are after Brazilian Douglas Costa.
Arsene Wenger refused to bid the asking price of £32m for Juan Quintero and has since enquired about Douglas Costa who is currently unhappy with playing in Ukraine for Shakhtar Donetsk because of the volatile and dangerous political situation in the country.
Douglas Costa is a 5ft 7 1/2in attacking midfielder who has scored 25 goals in 121 Ukrainian Premier League appearances since joining from Brazilian side Grêmio in January 2010. At only 23 he has already won 5 consecutive league titles, 3 Ukrainian Cups and 3 Ukrainian Super Cups.
It is understood that he would be available for a season-long loan with the option to buy but any fee would be inflated because of the 4 years remaining on his contract. Arsenal must act fast however as it is rumoured that North-London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also in the mix for his services.
