Cech’s dilemma – stay at Chelsea or head to France?

When it comes to goalkeepers José Mourinho is spoilt for choice. Thibaut Courtois has returned after three seasons at Atletico, and at just 32 Peter Cech has a few years left in him.

Mourinho has said he will give both keepers an equal shot at the starting position. The rumour is, however, that it is more than likely Courtois will start against Burnley.

So what next for Cech?

Stay at Chelsea

It is obvious that Courtois is more of a long-term option. However the Czech shot stopper still has what it takes to last another season or two.

If Cech were to stay he would have no guarantee of starting many matches. Doesn’t a goalkeeper of his quality and experience deserve better? He has stated though that he would rather move abroad that be benched.

Go to Real Madrid

Real Madrid has been rumoured, but he will be back in the dilemma he wanted to avoid, and be forced to compete with Iker Casillas, Diego Lopez and Keylor Navas.

Mourinho is also apparently interested in Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane. This could also open up the table to a potential swap.

Go to PSG

Chelsea are interested in PSG’s 27 year old forward Edinson Cavani. This means Cech could be used in part exchange.

Cech would have much higher chances of starting at PSG.

Go to Monaco

Monaco are currently unhappy with their keeper as well. A move to Monaco would mean Cech would get a starting spot at the team.
