With Andy Carroll on the injury table till November, BBC Sport report that West Ham United have bid for four strikers. David Sullivan, Co-Owner of the club has said: “We’ve got offers in for one striker in England and three abroad – and we just hope to land one of them.”
While the players remain unnamed the club have been linked to Stoke City’s Peter Crouch, Arsenal’s Joel Campbell and free agent Hugo Almeida.
Manager Sam Allardyce was dealt a hefty blow when Andy Carroll picked up an ankle injury that required surgery and the England striker tweeted his dismay: “Going under the knife tomorrow morning and absolutely devastated to be missing the start of the season!!”
Carroll moved to West Ham for £15m following his £35m move to Liverpool that failed but ever since has been plagued with injury after injury.
West Ham suffered at the back last season too with defenders dropping like flies at various points of the campaign. The Hammers need to stabilise and improve in 2014/15 to make it a top half finish come May.
