Colombia’s outstanding attacker Juan Cuadrado apparently came out of talks with his club’s chiefs today and has told his Fiorentina bosses that he wants his team to enter negotiations with Barcelona and Manchester United.
After superb performances in the World Cup for Colombia, he has emerged a top attacking target for both the Catalans and the Reds. Now it seems likely that a bidding war for 26 year-old will commence between the two.
Although Manchester have the money to splash out, Barcelona are favourites to land the player should they want him. Not only can they offer him Champions League football but Cuadrado’s style of football seems better suited to La Liga than perhaps it does to the Premiership.
Then again Cuadrado is less likely to maintain a starting place at Barca than he is in Manchester.
So will Manchester lose yet another player to Barcelona? It is beginning to feel like United are losing out in the window this year. Maybe LVG has a few aces up his sleeve for later in the month.
