It appears Liverpool will allow their promising £8m, young defender Tiago Ilori to move to French club Bordeaux on loan for the next season. The 21 year old’s development would be aided by a season spent in Ligue 1.
Ilori moved to Liverpool on the summer deadline day in 2013 but failed to play for the first team during the first half of the season and only made the bench during an FA Cup clash with Oldham Athletic. Following this he was sent out on loan to Spanish club Grenada for whom he played 9 times in La Liga.
The 6ft 3in centre-back spent his youth career at Sporting Lisbon who are known for their impressive ability to find and develop youngsters and made 12 league appearances for the club’s first team. After making a name for himself with the B side he earned his move to the Premier League but is still some way off making a fight for a regular Anfield spot.
The London born defender qualifies for England, Portugal or Nigeria but has 4 Portuguese U21 caps and his push for the full national side will certainly be helped with a spell of regular football for Bordeaux.
