Thomas Vermaelen has completed his move to Barcelona today after Arsenal agreed a £15m deal with the Spanish giants. The Belgian international passed a medical on Saturday and completed his move yesterday.
Today, he has been revealed to the Camp Nou faithful. Speaking on the move, the defender said, “Coming to Barcelona is a dream move – it wasn’t a difficult decision at all. There’s a lot of competition here but I’m very excited. It’s up to me to show what I can do – it’ll be a challenge for me”.
Vermaelen is keen to press on and put his injuries behind him, “I want to put the injuries I’ve had behind me and look to the future. My aim is to play in lots of games and help the team. I am keen to get started and I know the demands here are really testing”.
Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal may be ready to welcome in another centre back to the club, “At the moment it is a possibility that someone comes in to replace Thomas Vermaelen. I can’t tell you who!”
Today we have linked, Daniel Agger with a move to the Emirates and that could be a deal that develops over the coming days.
As for now, former Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen is now a Barcelona player and he will begin to fight for a place in the starting line up for the coming season.
