Paris Saint Germain are still trying to tie up a contract for Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi but the Daily Star are reporting those talks are breaking down. If that were the case it would certainly interest Premier League clubs Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Lavezzi, 29 years of age, is set to become a victim of PSG’s financial overspend that saw them breach FairPlay regulations with FIFA. After the costly arrival of David Luiz and the apparent falling apart of the winger’s contract renewal talks then Premier League sides could be ready to bid for Lavezzi.
The price tag for the 37 capped Argentina player is thought to be around £20m and with AC Milan and Juventus also fishing around the French club then expect a fight for his signature. Lavezzi can also play up front and is quick with a impressive stamina that saw him start 24 Ligue 1 games last season.
PSG signed Lavezzi from Napoli in July 2012 for €30m after 156 Serie A appearances in Italy. In that time he found the net on 38 occasions and has since played 60 times, scoring 12 , in Ligue 1 following the move.
Chelsea have to deal with the amount of foreign players in their squad however before they could make a move for Lavezzi with Petr Cech and Jon Obi Mikel linked with transfers away from Stamford Bridge. Liverpool would also benefit from his services are Brendan Rodgers’ side struggled to find their feet with Luis Suarez on Sunday against Southampton.
