BBC Sport this morning posted this on Twitter, something that will either get Liverpool fans jumping for joy or find their head buried in their hands…
Liverpool are in talks with AC Milan to sign Italy striker Mario Balotelli
— BBC Sport (@BBCSport) August 21, 2014
Liverpool have been looking for a striker this season to help provide consolation for the loss of Luis Suarez. With Daniel Sturridge occupied as the number one striker and Rickie Lambert on the bench, there still remains a lack of out and out strikers for the Reds.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been promising Reds fans that he will find someone, despite signing Divock Origi and then sending him back on loan to Lille. However, it seems Rodgers has found his man. Balotelli.
“Why Always Me?” The infamous quote that surrounds the controversial character that is Balotelli. Currently plying his trade in Italy with A.C. Milan, the Italian looks set for a return to the Premier League, in the red of Liverpool. A deal that is yet to be agreed or disclosed; it seems like a loan move is the preferable option for Milan, however, a permanent deal may not be far off.
As reports suggest that Liverpool are in talks with the big striker, fans will be in anticipation. Despite his controversy, Balotelli possesses class and has proved he is a handful in the Premier League. Tall, powerful, strong and skilful – the 24-year-old can be utilised as a target man, lone striker, or play alongside another. Versatile and with bags of ability; if Rodgers can break through and help control the Italians temperament; then Liverpool will have brought in one of the signings of the season.
Liverpool fans, what do you make of the Balotelli deal?
