QPR yesterday completed the signing of Leroy Fer from Norwich City for a fee said to be around £10m despite claims the deal is worth £8m according to BBC Sport.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp captured the Dutch midfielder on a three-year-contract and Fer is now eligible to play and could make his debut this Sunday against Spurs.
Redknapp spoke in the wake of the deal and insisted he is delighted with his latest recruit, “Leroy has all the attributes you’d be looking for from a central midfielder. He’s just an outstanding midfield player – great physique, fine ability, and he gets box-to-box.”
Meanwhile, Fer himself said it was an easy decision to join up with newly promoted QPR; “It was always my dream to stay in England, in the Premier League. QPR did well last season to come up and the squad is full of top players, so I’m delighted to be here. I’m just looking forward to showing what I’m capable of here at QPR.”
A deal that has been in the balance for a long time, finally QPR have their man and they are beginning to re-build an impressive squad, one worthy of maintaining Premier League status.
