Arsenal are reportedly set to be looking at West Ham defender Winston Reid. The New Zealand international is out of contract at the end of the season and Arsene Wenger is said to be interested in the 26-year-old.
Reid has had his injury problems of late, however, when fully fit, his form has been scintillating. A leader from the back, Reid has worn the armband to lead out the Hammers on many occasions.
Arsenal have lost Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona whilst Carl Jenkinson joined West Ham on loan, however, Wenger sees Reid as an opportunist target to help bring about some well deserved competition for his back four.
According to the Mirror, there has been no official bid from the Gunners as of yet, however, as the transfer window begins to dawn on its closure, don’t be shocked to see if Arsenal make a sudden bid for the West Ham man.
Out of contract at the end of the season, West Ham may have to sell in order to cash in now rather than lose their star on a free at the beginning of the next campaign.
Where will Reid be come the start of September?
