Arsene Wenger has targeted Brazil and Wolfsburg midfielder, Luiz Gustavo as a potential signing to secure his midfield for the coming season.
According to the Mirror, Wenger sent scouts to take note of Gustavo’s performance against Bayern Munich in their opening match of the Bundesliga. Something that could stir speculation further is that Wolfsburg are rumoured to be interested in Lukas Podolski, therefore a swap-plus-cash-deal could well be on the cards for the two sides.
With Wenger openly stating we wants a holding midfielder, or a new centre back – it looks as though their is validity in this Gustavo rumour which looks to have risen to the surface.
Meanwhile, Sami Khedira has now stated that he is happy to stay at Real Madrid after head coach Carlo Ancelotti revealed of the Germans wishes yesterday when talking about Di Maria’s departure from the capital.
As Arsenal look to bolster without Khedira, Gustavo looks the more likely arrival to the Emirates. Experienced and a player who fits the niche of Wenger’s style, it looks as though the Brazilian could be plying his trade in the Premier League sooner rather than later.
