Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud could be out for up to 3 months after sustaining a suspected broken foot against Everton in the closing seconds of Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Everton.
Giroud had come on to score the equaliser against Roberto Martinez’s side after clawing back a two goal deficit. Giroud who is Arsenal’s number one striker will now be a doubt to play for Arsenal in the coming weeks. Meaning Alexis Sanchez, Yaya Sanogo, Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell will fight it out to start for the Gunners.
Giroud bagged 16 goals last season for Arsenal and will be a heavy blow for Wenger’s side who are in desperate need of another striker according to fans.
Arsenal have a key match against Besiktas in the 2nd round of their Champions League qualifier on Wednesday and Wenger will be without Giroud, Arteta and Ramsey who miss out through injury and suspension.
With Giroud out and a limited number of attacking options for Arsenal, Wenger may have to dip his toes into the water and pluck out a striker in the transfer window before it closes.
Arsenal have since been linked with Swansea City striker, Wilfried Bony who was once tipped to join Liverpool. The Ivorian has been on top form of late and has impressed since arriving in the Premier League.
Would Wenger be willing to splash out £20m on Bony this summer?
