Manchester United have agreed a £59.7m deal for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria. The Argentinian is said to be undergoing his medical today, meaning the deal could be completed imminently according to BBC Sport..
If United complete the signing of the 26-year-old, it would rocket their total summer spend to in excess of £130m. Di Maria could be involved in United’s away match to Burnley next week if he signs in time to be registered.
The deal to sign Di Maria from Real Madrid would eclipse the £50m signing that Chelsea made to bring in Fernando Torres from Liverpool in 2011.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has spoken ahead of the loss of his winger, “Di Maria has not trained with us today and he came in to say goodbye to the players and people at the club,” said Real boss Carlo Ancelotti on Sunday.
“The decision is his and the club has done what it could to keep him here.”
As the deal edges ever closer, United fans will be anticipating the arrival of Di Maria who can hopefully spark some creativity and incisiveness into United’s play which has been lacklustre thus far.
