Arsenal have put in a shock bid for former Valencia and Birmingham City striker, Nikola Zigic.
The 6’7” striker is currently a free agent after his Birmingham City contract expired at the end of last season, and despite suggestions that he might retire, Arsenal have moved in.
Zigic’s agent told the Metro, ‘Wenger called me on Tuesday and stressed his desire to sign Zigic.”
‘He was offered a contract until the end of the year, with a view to it being extended to 2015 – we’ll see what happens.’
Apparently, reports in Serbia have said that the 33-year-old has agreed terms and is now at the Emirates completing his medical.
Zigic scored seven times in 35 matches for Birmingham, but has endured a difficult time at the club, having survived several attempts to release him – while former boss Lee Clark described one of his training performances ‘as one of the worst of all time’.
Could Arsenal be on the verge of one of the shock signings this summer?
