Alvaro Negredo staying at Manchester City

Sky Sports News HQ are confirming that Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo will be staying at Manchester City this deadline day. Reports had emerged that Valencia had agreed a deal to bring him back to La Liga but seemingly with Radamel Falcao going to Manchester United, Negredo will not be allowed to leave.

Alvaro Negredo jonied Manchester City from Sevilla for around £16.5m last summer and scored 9 Premier League goals in 32 games as the Citizens secured the title. At Sevilla, Negredo netted 70 goals in 139 La Liga games and he appeared to be a favourite of manager Manuel Pellegrini in 2013/14. However, with Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and now Stevan Jovetić seemingly in front of him, the number 9 will have to wait for game time.

The Spanish international has 10 goals in 21 caps for his country but after Man City failed to agree a deal for a replacement it seems a move back to La Liga is now completely off the cards.

Alvaro Negredo is still recovering from injury and will have work to do to fight back into the first team in the North-West but expect him to score goals when needed for Man City this coming season.

City fans, are you pleased to keep hold of Alvaro Negredo?

  • The Local Mancunian Mole

A report, with an Italian source, says that Ferran Sorriano, City’s CEO, sent a message to Monaco at 3am this morning pulling out of the deal to sign Falcao. No reason given. Local information suggests that Falcao attended a medical at City over a week ago. I wonder what was in the medical report. One can only speculate.

Negredo’s now a Valencia player! Got that a tad wrong eh? Still £24m for a 30 year old who wasn’t all that is good business.
