We await the official announcement from the club on the signing of AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao to Manchester United but is there anyone else set to join? Well, we know of one for sure: Daley Blind from Ajax.
On Saturday we reported Manchester United had a fee agreed for the Dutch international Daley Blind. He is a left wing-back or defensive midfielder by trade which will bolster Louis Van Gaal’s options at the back. Falcao was the shock move of today with a loan fee agreed that (including his wage costs) will be upwards of £25m.
Will any more bodies be coming in before the 11pm transfer deadline? The answer to that is no, whilst Danny Welbeck to Arsenal or Spurs and Tom Cleverley to Aston Villa or Everton are the major outgoings.
How does this fair for fans at Old Trafford? Well, whilst we know what Radamel Falcao can do at his best and whilst Daley Blind is a solid addition, does this solve Manchester United’s problem? Unfortunately in my opinion it does not! Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao are two standout transfers in this summer’s Premier League window and add undoubted quality to the Red Devils but they also somewhat paper over the cracks.
Lous Van Gaal is forcing the implementation of the 3-5-2 formation at Old Trafford but with Manchester United struggling to win games at the moment they really could’ve done with the signing of a commanding and experienced centre-back. Mats Hummels was strongly linked as was defensive midfielder Arturo Vidal who is very comfortable in the 3-5-2 formation. Does the lack of action in that department bode well for Man Utd? Only time will tell!
As the window slams shut at 11pm will there be any more transfers? Brandish.tv understand there won’t be and we think this could hurt Manchester United over the course of a full season!
