Arsenal fans will be laughing at the haters after their new deadline day signing, Danny Welbeck showcased his goalscoring skills for England last night.
Two goals against a good Switzerland side was enough to see off the group competitors 2-0; the Swiss first home defeat in four years, who did they last lose against? England.
Welbeck’s new role of playing as the main striker gave Arsenal fans a good impression of what they can expect and they won’t be disappointed. A player who has bags of pace, strength and ability; Welbeck exuded composure to make sure he finished his two chances for his country and did so expertly.
Good link up play with Raheem Sterling and Wayne Rooney saw England provide exciting counter-attacking football, something that got England fans on the edges of their seats. As England bemoan the amass of injuries they currently have, they will applaud the efforts of the squad that overcame a resilient Swiss side. With a number of key and exciting players to return to the fold for the Three Lions, those who stepped in provided a very good shift.
Danny Welbeck’s confidence will be sky-high as he looks to prove that he an be adopted as an out and out striker, something he has not been given the chance to do. If he can keep scoring when given the chance like he was yesterday, Arsenal and England fans will be laughing.
