Arsenal defender, Mathieu Debuchy suffered an ankle injury in his sides 2-2 draw at home to Manchester City on Saturday. The French right back who joined Arsenal in the summer from Newcastle looks set to be out of action for a lengthy period.
Debuchy was pictured with an oxygen mask has he was stretchered off in the closing minutes of Arsenals game. It appeared to derive from an aerial battle in which the Frenchman landed awkwardly on his ankle as it buckled beneath him.
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger commented on the injury to his right back and insisted, “It doesn’t look too good.”
“They need more time to assess it, but it’s a bad sprain.”
Arsenal will be without their first choice right back and therefore may need to push Calum Chambers over to the right side of defence where he was deployed at Southampton last season.
It will be an unwelcome injury to Wengers squad who are renown for their host of injury hit players.
