Arsenal have had major defensive problems this season, injuries galore and so Talksport believe that Arsene Wenger will make some signings in January to sort this. One at the top of the list is Juventus’ right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Lichtsteiner is a Swiss international who joined Juventus in June 2011 for €10m from Serie A rivals Lazio. Lichtsteiner made 100 league appearances for Lazio and has since played 100 Serie A games for Juventus, offering Arsenal the opportunity to add vast experience to their squad.
Lichtsteiner started his career in his native Switzerland with Grasshoppers before moving to Ligue 1 in France with Lille. Now at 30-years-old, the 68 capped international is entering the back end of his career and perhaps a last big chance to play in the Premier League. As a right-back he is creative but Lichtsteiner can also play across the back four offering Arsene Wenger much needed cover.
Chelsea have previously been linked to Lichtsteiner, as have Italian rivals Inter Milan but Arsenal appear to be forerunners as Lichtsteiner has fallen in and out of Max Allegri’s Juventus squad so far in the 2014/15 campaign.
